March was… a journey.
Like emotionally? Mentally? Fictionally?? I went through everything this month — from fantasy heartbreak to cozy chaos to “why am I crying at 11 pm on a Tuesday” type reads.
And honestly… this might be one of my favorite reading months so far.
Here’s everything I read and my very honest thoughts:
Every Time I Go on Vacation, Someone Dies by Catherine Mack
Okay, first of all — the TITLE alone? Immediate yes. Then I actually started reading it… and immediately hated it.
First of all, it’s written like the main character is literally talking to you, which sounds fun in theory, but just didn’t work for me. It pulled me out of the story more than it pulled me in. And second… the FOOTNOTES.
Like, I’m sorry, but why am I flipping back and forth just to understand what she’s thinking? It completely broke the flow for me and made it feel more like work than an enjoyable read. (If you were listening, it would be okay, but reading it was not fun)
I really wanted to like this one because the concept had so much potential… but it just wasn’t for me.
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas
Listen… I know people LOVE to skip this one.
But I’m here to say: you’re wrong. respectfully.
This book surprised me in the best way. The world-building? Beautiful. The character development? So underrated. And getting a completely different perspective in the middle of the chaos of the series? Needed.
It felt slower, yes — but in a healing, “catch your breath before everything explodes” kind of way.
Also… Chaol deserved this arc. I said what I said.
Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas
I’m not okay. I will not be okay. I don’t think I’ll ever be okay again.
This book? This was not a book. This was an experience, a full emotional breakdown wrapped in magic, sacrifice, love, and pain.
Everything comes together in a way that makes you realize how intentional every single book before this was. The connections, the characters, the sacrifices… It’s all worth it.
I cried. Multiple times. Publicly? Maybe.
If you’ve made it this far in the series, know: You are not prepared.
The Road to Tender Hearts by Annie Hartnett
This one felt… soft.
Like the kind of story that slowly wraps around you without you realizing it. It’s emotional, reflective, and a little heavy in that quiet way that sneaks up on you.
It’s about love, grief, and finding your way back to yourself — and I think I read it at the exact right time.
Not a loud book, but definitely one that stays with you.
The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez
This book? Oh, this book had me in my feelings.
It’s emotional, romantic, and has that bittersweet tone that just lingers. The kind of story where you sit there after finishing like… “wait, I need a minute.”
If you love: emotional romances, healing storylines, books that feel like a late-night conversation…this is for you.
Final Thoughts
March really said: “Let’s feel everything all at once.”
I went from chaotic fun → to deep healing → to full emotional destruction → to soft heartbreak… and honestly? I loved every second of it.
If I had to recommend one from this month… (why would you make me choose??) …but Kingdom of Ash owns my soul now.
